About D4Nepal

We build data products, and we help students learn by building them.

D4Nepal is a small company with a big idea: that good analysis should not need a data team, and that the next generation learns best on real work.

Who we are

A small team that believes good analysis should not need a data team.

D4Nepal Inc. is a company registered in the State of Maryland, USA. We build data and analytics products that turn the numbers people already have into answers they can act on, for small businesses and for everyday life, including sport.

Our founder, Ramesh Byanjankar, comes from senior analytics and data leadership. He has spent a career turning messy data into decisions, and builds our products to put that same thinking in the hands of people who never had an analyst to ask.

The name

Four D's. One destination.

D4 stands for the four D's we hold ourselves to.

Dedication + Determination + Discipline = Destination

Dedication

Showing up for the work, and for the people it serves, every day.

Determination

Staying with a hard problem when stopping would be easier.

Discipline

Doing the small things properly, again and again, so the big things hold.

Destination

The answer found, the finish line crossed, the goal reached.

Nepal is where our founder, Ramesh, was born and raised. It is part of his identity, and so it is part of everything we build.

Giving back

Preparing for the future.

A fun, creative way to gather, analyze and visually organize ideas and information into a simple, dynamic solution.

Objective

Real-time learning through an end-to-end solution, from gathering requirements to designing and deploying the end product.

High school and college students get real work experience on real products, and give back to the community while they learn.

What students learn

Communication and presentation, at every step Tell the story with facts, and keep stakeholders and end users updated, from the first meeting to the final sign-off.

  1. 1Stakeholders and sponsorsWho needs it, and who backs it
  2. 2Feasibility and gap analysisIs it possible? What is missing?
  3. 3Learning agenda and wireframePlan the questions, sketch the solution
  4. 4Viz tools, testing and deploymentBuild it, test it, put it live
  5. 5AnalysisKPIs and insights you can act on

The roadmap: five pillars of a successful solution

Every solution rests on the same five things. Each one gets real practice.

Stakeholders

Identify the stakeholders and sponsors, and learn why you need them. Hold 1:1 meetings and build partnership and collaboration. They are the most important of all: they provide the budget and the requirements, and they give the final sign-off.

Analysis

Is the project feasible, and what is the return? Are there any gaps? Is there enough data and information to answer every question? Define the KPIs and measures that lead to actionable insights.

Learning agenda

A systematic, organized way of answering questions, with a tentative look and feel of the solution, the wireframe. It checks that all the information and logistics are available and that nothing critical is missing.

Visuals

Design the solution in Excel first, then build it in visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI, and share the finished work in the tool communities.

Communications

Be a storyteller. Know your audience, communicate the why with facts, and design effective slides. Keep stakeholders and end users updated, and practise the presentation or sales pitch.

A real-life use case

Buying vs. leasing a car

A question almost everyone has faced. Students take it from a rough idea to a finished, shareable solution, using the same tools professionals use.

  1. 1Learning agendaPresent the questions and the plan
  2. 2Wireframe and analysisSketch the solution and test the logic
  3. 3Data designDecide what data answers each question
  4. 4Visualization toolBuild it in a real viz tool
  5. 5Share your workPublish it for others to see
